The announcement having just been made that Hemingway had been awarded the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature, "Time" Magazine immediately assigned its top writer, Robert Manning, to do a cover-story interview of Hemingway. Manning visited the writer in Cuba, then corresponded with him on particular points to finish the article.
