This historic photograph was taken in 1981 when the four presidents gathered at The White House prior to Presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter’s departure to Egypt to represent the United States at Anwar Sadat’s funeral. This is the most popular of the signed images that appeared following the historic event at The White House—the first time four presidents met there.

Historically this occasion allowed for one of the first times photographs of four presidents in a single photograph and this particular photograph is one of the most popular of the images created on that occasion.

The image was scanned in a frame and is not a good representation of the quality of the piece. Signatures are much clearer and darker: Reagan, Ford, and Carter signed with a felt tip pen; Nixon signed with a fine ball point pen, though legible and very readable, it is not as dark as the other three; from left to right: "Ronald Reagan" "Gerald Ford" "Jimmy Carter" "Richard Nixon" .President Carter signed almost all such photos J.Carter but this particular photograph is signed with his full signature Jimmy Carter.
