Horton Smith (1908-1963), Walter Hagen (1892-1969), "Lighthorse" Harry Cooper (1904-2000), John Revolta (b. 1911), Ky Laffoon, and Len Mattson. Professional Golf Association Legends. Rare Historic Document Signed.

A true gem of a signed program, featuring PGA tour legends of the 1920s and 1930s, including three hall of fame golfers, Horton Smith, Walter Hagen, and Harry Cooper, and champion golfers John Revolta and Ky Laffoon, and tour competitor Len Mattson. This Rare Historic Signed Document is an official program from the 1934 St. Paul Open, measuring approximately 5.5 in. by 8.5 in.

Most notably signed by Horton Smith on the upper left corner. Considered the rarest autograph of all the Master's champions, Smith won the inaugural event and third tournament (1934, 1936), and was the leading player on the embryonic PGA Tour Circuit of the 1930s. He was also selected to eight Ryder Cup teams, where he was undefeated in Ryder Cup play. Other signers, include the legendary Walter Hagen, the U.S. Open champion (1914, 1919), British Open champion (1922, 1924, 1928, 1929), and PGA champion (1921, 1924-27); Harry Cooper, who won 31 PGA Tour events -- the most by any player not to win a major; Johnny Revolta, who won 18 PGA Tour tournaments in the 1930s and 1940s, including five in 1935 when he led the money list and won the PGA Championship; Ky Laffoon, a prominent PGA Tour player of the 1930s and 1940s, was a member of 1935 Ryder Cup Team, and Len Mattson, Minnesota golfer associated with the tournament.

The St Paul Open was played at Keller Golf Course from 1930 until 1967. Keller Golf Course, itself, was opened for play in 1929. As this was the 5th Annual event, the year would be 1934.

Note: The images were scanned in the frame, which detracts from
the clarity and contrast of the images. They are much clearer.

There is another unidentified signature underneath Horton Smith's. The program shows normal aging and handling, with cross-folds, tape residue on the bottom center margin; signatures of Laffoon, Cooper, Revolta, and Hagen are light, but legible. Housed in archival frame with vintage sepia-tone portrait of Hagen by the T.R. Christian Studio. $OLD
