SUMMARY: This offering is a Herbert Hoover White House Card and a Charles Curtis Senate Pass both signed. Price:$ 400.00
Herbert Hoover (1864-1964 ) and Charles Curtis (1830-1936).These men were elected as President and Vice-President in 1928 having defeated Al Smith and Joseph Robinson in the general election.
Hoover and Curtis had the misfortune of serving during the stock market crash and depression that followed. Those events paved the way for FDR and "The New Deal" Much has been written about Hoover and his legendary life as mining engineer, politician, humanitarian and President so his life story well known.Curtis by contrast is more of a 'shadowy' figure of history. He was a conservative Republican from Kansas in the Bob Dole mold and a champion of individual rights and, like Dole. he was a skilled Senate leader. He was active in advocating Indian and women's rights, possibly because he was part Native American by heritage. He was the 31st Vice-President of America. His political career is what could best be characterized as--" being in the wrong place at the wrong time."
This offering is a typical Herbert Hoover signed 2.5 in x 4 in. White House Card, n.p., n.d. but circa 1930 and a Senate pass signed by Charles Curtis, 5/13/1931.Both cards are in excellent condition and show the normal aging and, in the case of The White House Card, toning.
The item will be come with a letter of provenance as to their origin, history and authenticity.
