golf's Grand Slam when he won the world's four major tournaments
all in the same year. His life was cut short by syringomyelia,
a degenerative disease of the spinal cord and that disease left
him completely debilitated toward the end of his life. Jones
was a practicing attorney and this letter reflects his interest
in language and being able to express himself precisely. He was
a well know perfectionist in all aspects of his life. The letter
is a TLS on his Atlanta law practice stationery, dated 1955 and
is signed "Robert T. Jones, Jr." The letter concerns
the books regarding language that he chose to purchase. There
is some foxing of the letter and there is a paper clip impression
upper left on the letter. The signature is a crisp and dark fountain
pen signature in black ink. A receipt for the books accompanies
