- Bob Kane (1917-1999). American Artist and Cartoonist who created
"Batman" in May 1939.
- A Set of Original Sketches of Batman and Robin on separate sheets, being bust portraits of the 'Cape Crusaders,' on quarto-sized sheets. On the Batman Kane has signed and inscribed the piece: "'BATS WISHES FROM BOB KANE '93"; and on the Robin he has signed and inscribed: "FOR MY FRIEND ANDY - BATS WISHES, BOB KANE '94".
- Kane came to the burgeoning comics world in 1936 with his own book that led to various assignments in the following years - until the character "Superman" burst onto the scene and generated enormous sales numbers. In turn, Kane along with writer Bill Finger developed another costumed crime-fighter - the Bat-Man (original spelling). Bob Kane, however, was the one who proposed the idea to his editors, and so he was the only one of the pair to receive official credit. Today, Batman is considered one of the great comic characters in history.
