Edward Koch (1924-). Ed Koch is a former congressman and was Mayor of New York City from 1978 to 1889.A lifelong liberal he won three terms as Mayor of America's largest city. He was noted for trying to bring fiscal sanity to the city. He was also very active in national Democratic politics and opposed Jesse Jackson as an anti-Semite. A Broadway play Mayor was based on this book.He has also been a stalwart on the war on terror because he saw first hand what happened in NYC on 9/11.
