![]() Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865). 16th President of the U.S (1861-1865). Unquestionably one of the rarest and most desirable forms of Lincoln's penmanship, this is a handwritten and signed bank check, 7.5" x 2.5", drawn on Lincoln's Springfield Marine & Fire Insurance Company account April 16, 1859, payable to Miss Mary Remann for the sum of $5.00 and beautifully signed, "A. Lincoln," in the lower right. One glimpse at this well preserved document brings us to the conclusion that it is highly unlikely that there could be any other specimen of Lincoln check as fine as this. This check was drawn on the Springfield and Marine Fire Insurance Company account. Banc One in Springfield has the Lincoln family ledger from this account on display in its lobby. One small cancellation hole along the vignette on the left side stands as the only variance from perfection, with the check otherwise displaying a clean surface, sharp corners and vibrant ink flow. Encased in a museum-grade mylar sleeve, the check is handsomely double-matted in a rich brown suede and framed to an overall size of 35" x 28". With the popularity of signed checks increasing exponentially amongst hobbyist, the absolute scarcity of this document Lincoln document cannot be overstated. The signature would grade 10. ![]() Price:$OLD
