William McKinley.(18431901) was the 25th President of the United States . He was elected twice,in 1896 and 1900, but served only part of his second term, as he was assassinated in September of 1901. He is remembered for presiding over a major period of expansion in U.S. territories through conquest largely due to The Spanish-American War including the annexation of Cuba, the Philippines, and Wake Island. He also annexed the future U.S. State of Hawaii. He was succeeded by his Vice President, Theodore Roosevelt. A bit of Presidential trivia: he was the first President to ride in an automobile which was in fact the ambulance that took him to the hospital after he was shot.
This offering is a beautiful 14 in x 17 in document dated Nov 1, 1895 and issued for a Notary Public appointment signed by W McKinley at the time Governor of the State of Ohio. The document is in fine condition with an intact seal. Suitable for framing and display as an example of the autograph of one of Ohio's most famous sons and future president.
