The Great Artiste. This is an 8 in x 11.5 in color photograph of plane signed by 8 crew members.This plane was scheduled to be the strike plane for the Nagasaki mission but that roll was reassigned to Bockscar at the last minute. In fact the media mistakenly reported that The Great Artiste was the plane that dropped the bomb for weeks after the mission was completed.The photograph is signed by 8 crew members including Fred Bock (of Bockscar fame) and Lawrenence Johnston the only man to see the detonation of all three atomic bombs: the autographs of Bock and Johnston are very scarce. Ira Clarence Eaker(1896 -1987) .Promoted to Brigadier General in January 1942, he was assigned to organize the VIII Bomber Command and to understudy the British system of bomber operations; then in December 1942, he assumed command of the Eighth Air Force in England. In this letter written in 1980 Eacker reviews the military history of the U.S from WW I until 1980. It is extremely rich in insight and worth reading. This letter is in perfect condition. It is on Ira Eaker's personal stationery and is dated April 2, 1980. It is nicely signed Ira Eaker. $850.00

Adolf Hitler (April 20, 1889 – 1945). The document being offered was from The Fueher Headquarters, April 1, 1944. This date was three months before Officers Bomb plot when an attempt was made on Hitler's life at. The document is an appointment for Rudolf Schmidt who was Commanding Officer, 39th Panzer Division and Oak Leaf Winner. Signed by Hitler and countersigned by Dr. Hans Lammers, 3rd Reich Legal expert and Hitler's closest legal advisor and by Dr. Otto Thierack who was Reich Minister of Justice.The document has two folds and a file number at the top. The folds do not touch any of the signatures. There is the usual embossed eagle on the paper. Also offered is an original photo of Hitler as described in the full listing. Price:SOLD
 
Large Bronze Plaue Depicting SS Soldiers. This dramatic plaque was one of several that were found recently in Germany in what was a basement or bunker of the former barracks of the elite division of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler(LAH). The size of these great historical items is 24 ½ inches X 16 inches. The bronze plaque weighs approximately 50 pounds. [John F. Kennedy] PT-109. Two First Day Covers Signed. A set of FDC's honoring JFK, the first issue, d. May 29, 1964, was signed by 7 crew members from PT-109; the second issue, d. September 7, 1968 was signed by 2 crew members from the Amagiri, the Japanese destroyer that sank PT-109. PT 109 was cut in two by the Japanese destroyer on August 2, 1943 in the Solomon Islands. Kennedy and his crew were rescued after Kennedy gave two natives a coconut shell on which he carved the following: NAURO ISL COMMANDER...NATIVE KNOWS POS'IT...HE CAN PILOT...11 ALIVE NEED SMALL BOAT...KENNEDY. A remarkable association relating to one of the defining moments of Kennedy's life. In fine condition. $1,000.

Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964). U.S. Army General. Historic Typed Letter Signed, "Douglas MacArthur, one page, quarto, dated November 7, 1961, New York. A powerful and revealing letter to a friend of the family, mentioning his father's neighborhood in Milwaukee and his friendship with Secretary of War Stimson, he conveys his innermost thoughts with alacrity on the missed opportunity of Korean War. In part, "Had we gone on beyond the Yalu we would have destroyed Red China and it would no longer be a menace to the free world. We could have done so very easily and the whole outlook of mankind would be different today." A very historic letter, it shows normal aging, with a few light creases. Overall, in fine condition $OLD

General of the Army who served his country with distinction for most of his adult life.The offering is an except form his famous final address to a Joint Session of Congress(April 19, 1951), a speech forever known as 'the old soldiers never die' speech but it was much more important than that. Very Rare War-Dated Autograph Document Signed, one page, large octavo (approximately 7.5 in. by 7 in.), on chain laid paper, dated July 15, 1778, being a military dispatch to the Governor of South Carolina and an American Revolutionary War leader, Rawlins Lowndes (1721-1800), to raise funds for troop support. Signed and endorsed by Lowndes and Captain Calvin Spencer (1753-1801), an American patriot who served under Moultrie and Francis Marion during the war. With antique engraving of Moultrie. Nazi Gear Cog Flag (circa early 1930's). This offering is an early Nazi flag and the gear cog that encircles the swastika indicates that the flag was from the German Labor Front (German: Deutsche Arbeitsfront, DAF).The flag is two sided and its dimensions are 48" high by 58 1/2" wide. The red ground is wool, the center swastika and cog pattern are black and white linen machine stitched onto the red ground. The town name in upper corners is in white stitching on brown wool felt with blue wool felt trim. It is hemmed along the right and left sides. The flag appears to have been hand tacked to a support along one of its hemmed edges at some point in history. There are a few stains as pictured and a several imperfections ( holes) also visible in the photos in the listing. Overall sound condition, not fragile and not fallling apart. The flag would make a historic presentation if archivally framed.Price:$2950.00

Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The greatest British Naval Hero. Defeated Napolean's Navy and lost his life in the Battle Of Trafalgar, which the British won. A Very Choice Signature, "Nelson d Bronte", on laid paper, clipped from a document and affixed to an antique engraved portrait of the Admiral dressed in uniform. The engraving is by J. Cochran from a painting by J. Hoppner. Engraving dated 1835. A scarce and desirable signature, light residue, age toning, overall very good and ideal for framing. $OLD

Chester A. Nimitz (1885-1966). US Admiral and War Hero in World War II; Commander-in-Chief of US naval forces in the Pacific, 1941-1945. Printed Photograph Signed. An 8 by 10 inches, black and white, (c. 1941-1945), being a waist-high portrait of Nimitz in full uniform, signed and inscribed upper left corner, "To Comdr Dan J. Hurt, U.S.N.R., with best wishes, C.W. Nimitz". After the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, Nimitz was named commander of the Pacific fleet, and as the official representative of the United States, signed the instrument of Japanese surrender on his flagship, the U.S.S. Erwin Rommel(1894-1944).This offering is a early handwritten letter by Rommel to his future wife who he was courting at the time while at the Cadet School in Danzig, early in 1911, Rommel met his future wife, 17-year-old Lucia Maria Mollin (commonly called Lucie). British Field Marshall who fought throught WW II in North Africa and Burma.This offer is an autograph letter concerning his anthology of poetry and included with that letter is a copy (1941) of his famous lectures on Generals and Generalship.Rommel carried a leather bound copy of these lectures throughout the war and Rommel's copy was presented to Mrs. Wavell by Mrs. Rommel after the war. Extraordinarily Rare Documents, being "General Orders No. 69" awarding Beser the Silver Star as a crewmember on the Enola Gay which dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, one page (recto/verso), quarto, on "HEADQUARTERS TWENTIETH AIR FORCE" typed heading, d. 20 September 1945, and "General Orders No. 71" awarding Beser the Distinguished Flying Cross as a crewmember on the Bockscar which dropped the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan, one page (recto/verso), quarto, on "HEADQUARTERS TWENTIETH AIR FORCE" typed heading, d. 22 September 1945. [World War II]: An Original, Rare and Historic, War-Dated Hiroshima Area Target Map, Chart #23, printed on June 16, 1945, by The 949th Engineer Aviation Topographic Company attached to the 21st Bomber Command on Guam; measuring approximately 16 in. by 16 ¾ in., being a lithographic print in three colors (green, blue and black) on white map stock. One or more copies of the Area Target Chart #23, were carried aboard the Enola Gay and used to place the bomb at the correct location.
