From a historical standpoint this gathering was the beginning of the taking of photos of four or more Presidents of the United States in one photograph. There were several poses of the four presidents taken on this occasion including a color photograph of the four standing between two flags a copy of which is listed on this web site. These photographs caused
quite a stir among collectors but none of the other poses from this or any other similar occasion are as rare or as beautiful as this particular original black and white photograph. This photograph was taken by a photographer from the Washington Post and it won a national photojournalism award. The photograph is titled Modern Day Rushmore. This exquisite original photograph ,not a reproduction, was obtained as a gift directly from the photographer, Harry Naltchayan, before the Washington Post stopped any more copies from being made. The photo is back stamped with the photographer's name and a statement that the rights to the photo belong to Washington Post Photograph-Reproduction is Forbidden. It is not surprising then that there are very few of these photographs in circulation because of the restrictions placed on its distribution and reproduction.. It is known that at least two of the presidents represented in the photo requested copies of this particular photograph for distribution to friends but we have never seen one on the market, either signed or unsigned. We do know the photographer had an enlargement of this photo signed by the four presidents in his possession.
Because of the rarity of this presidential photograph it is priced accordingly. Price:$OLD |
