Richard
Nixon (1969-1974). 37th
President of the United States (1969-1974). A Typed Letter
Signed "RN" on official "The White
House Washington" letterhead, octavo, d. March 7, 1974,
to Senator Norris Cotton of New Hampshire. In the aftermath of
the OPEC oil embargo of 19731974, energy policy took center
stage, with the Congress and the Aministration in heated domestic
debate.
The letter reads in part: "I
want to express my personal gratitude to you for your help in
sustaining the veto of S. 2589, the Energy Emergency Act. Although
well intentioned, this bill would have only succeeded in making
the energy problem much more severe. Because the weaknesses of
the bill were not widely understood, your vote was both foresighted
and courageous...". Accompanied by the original envelope.
Archivally framed. In fine condition. $950. (#10573)
