 Ronald Reagan (b.1911-2004). Actor, Governor of California, and 40th President of the United States (1981-1989).

This offering is a 2.4 in. x 4 in. card with its accompanying envelope signed Sincerely, Ronald Reagan. There is minor soiling of nthe envelope but the card is in excellent condition. There is an embossed Presidental Seal in the upper left hand corner of the card where the signature resides (appears faint on this scan).

There is a lot of controversy about so-called "White House Cards" but one thing is for certain and that is that authentic WHC's signed by Reagan, if they exist, are very rare.I refer the visitor to the recently published book Executive Mansion, White House and the White House cards Signed by the Presidents and their First Ladies by Keyes and Koschal (available from the authors). Furthermore, I have never seen a genuine Reagan WHC except for the one illustrated in the Keyes-Koschal book. There are several bogus cards or replica cards circulating that were signed by Reagan after he left office. In fact, one appeared at a recent auction and the listing had to be revised during the auction to indicate the offering was a replica rather than an official WHC.

The card being offfered here is a card signed in the Oval Office as president and was obtained in person by a speech writer who was leaving the staff to run for political office.It is the closest Reagan presidential card to the WHC's often signed by other presidents that I have ever seen.
