Tom Clancy (1947- ). This book is one of the rarest First Editions in modern American literature. When it was published it was done in a small edition because Clancy was an unknown. Unknown that is until President Reagan mentioned at a press conference that he was reading a new thriller called The----. Man, that is a career launcher. Of course, the rest is history and Red October had become a classic yarn of the sea-the modern version of Moby Dick. Book Description: Annapolis,MD: Naval Institute Press, 1984, Annapolis,MD, 1984.
