- Roger Tory Peterson (1908-1996).
Roger Tory Peterson was
an artist, a naturalist, an ornithologist, an artist and an educator
and writer. He was probably most well known for his classic book
Guide to the Birds in which he set forth the Peterson
identification system to be used in the field by birdwatchers
of all stripes.His Field Guide classic went through multiple
editions and a First Edition, First Printing can now cost up
to two thousand dollars. He also wrote a variety of other Field
Guides for everything from rocks to reptiles.Peterson was also
a pioneering conservationist.
- This offering is a beautiful
11 in. x 14 in. color print after Peterson of The Great Horned
Owl. The print was published in 1974 by the Mill Pond Press in
Venice Florida.The print is signed and inscribed by Peterson
on the lower margin (shown seperately below) of the print as
follows, Best wishes-Roger Tory Peterson. The print
is in excellent condition with scattered minor toning. Price:$OLD
