This print shows the legendary Guenther Rall, considered by many to be the finest pilot of the German Luftwaffe in action against the pilots of "Hub" Zemke's "Wolfpack" over Germany in May, 1944. After downing two P-47 Thunderbolt fighters and nearly downing the famed leader of the 56th Fighter Group, Rall found himself outnumbered and outgunned. He narrowly cheated death on this fateful day but went on to become the world's third-highest-scoring ace of all time with 275 aerial victories and eventually formed lasting friendships with his one-time American opponents.
