Aleksandr
I. Solzhenitsyn (b. 1918). Russian
Author & Nobel Laureate (1970). Typed Manuscript Signed,
one page, quarto, being a transcription of the first page of
the Gulag Archipelago, his most famous novel.Although
this is not the work for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize
for literature, most historians believe its publication was a
seminal event which made him the most important literary figure
of the last century.Solzhenitsyn's work called the profound evil
of Stalin and communism to the attention of the entire world.
After the publication of this impotant book, it was no longer
possible for the empty headed 'intellectuals' and the left leaning
media in the United Sttes to find any redeeming qualities in
the Soviet system. Some argue that the publication of this book
had a profound effect on many American including Ronald Reagan
and that it was the first pebble that began an avalanche of revulsion
that eventually led to the downfall of the Soviet Union.
Boldly signed in Cyrillic: "Alek
Solzhenitsyn". In fine condition. $595.
