- Arthur Szyk (1894-1951).
Polish-born, American
artist and foremost manuscript illuminator of modern times; brilliantly
wielded paintbrush and palette in the great battles for freedom
in his lifetime, considered by scholars and art critics to have
been the greatest 20th century illuminator working in the style
of the 16th century miniaturist painters.

- A Rare Full-Color Manuscript
Illumination Signed, quarto,
entitled, "The United States of America". This work
was one of nine illuminations designed and completed to honor
the founding of the United Nations, published by Kasimir Bileski.
Depicts the emblem of the American Eagle around a series of vignettes
of the Steamboat, Pony Express, the Industrial Revolution, the
Plain's Indian, Soldier, Sailor, African-American. Incredible
detail! Boldly signed on the lower right: "Arthur Szyk."
