H. Taft. Typed Letter Signed as
Secretary of War, one page, octavo, d. April 21, 1908, on
official "WAR DEPARTMENT. WASHINGTON." Letterhead,
being a letter to his brother Charles P. Taft (1843-1929) Republican
U.S. Representative from Ohio (1895-1897), and publisher of the
Cincinnati Times-Star. Letter reads in part: "My dear
Charlie: I have your letter of the 15th of April, and Carpenter
advises me that he the letter of the Secretray of State to Mr.
Dewey at his office in Chicago… Affectionately yours, Wm
H Taft". Letter shows normal folds and aging, signature
bold, but slightly faded. Overall, in fine condition. Housed
