        Truman(1885-1982).President and
        First Lady of the United States. What a find!! White House
        Cards signed by the President and Firast Lady which were signed
        on the day Germany surrendered (May 7, 1945-(see date of letter
        of transmittal) and they were mailed on May 8, 1945 as indicated
        by the postmark on the mailing envelope.


        
Standard 4 in. x 2.5 in. WHC's signed by
        both The President and First Lady in fountain pen ink.Just imagine
        the euphoria in the White House on that day--the war
        in Europe was over. Hitler had committed suicide on April 30th,
        1945 and VE day was declared on the day these cards were mailed,
        May 8th 1945.


        
The cards, their small envelope and the
        letter of transmittal and its postmarked cover are all in pristine
        condition. An incredible, and historic find. Truman WHC's getting
        difficult to find and one associated with these dates quite unique.
