John Wayne (1904-1979) Academy Award Winning Actor, American Icon. A Very Fine Black and White Publicity Photograph Signed, measuring approximately 8 in. by 10 in., no place or date, but a photo credit on the lower left circa 1970, posing in a classic Western outfit, from director Howard Hawks classic Rio Lobo (1970). Very boldly signed and inscribed: "Good Luck Mrs. Byrd John Wayne".

 

One of the Duke's best late films and a staple of late night movies, in Rio Lobo Wayne plays Col. Cord McNally, an ex-union officer who teams up with a couple of ex-Johnny Rebs to search for the traitor who sold information to the South during the Civil War. Their quest brings them to the town of Rio Lobo where they help recover this little Texas town from ruthless outlaws who are led by the traitor they were looking for. Photograph shows normal aging and handling, very minor surface wear, corner 'bumps,' photograph credit in black felt tip on lower left. Overall, as nice an example as one can expect and ideal for framing.
